Living in Tampa, we are always faced with severe weather, including hurricanes.  One of the most important things that can be done for your pet in case of a storm is proper, permanent identification.  At Beach Park Animal Clinic, an animal hospital in Tampa / South Tampa, FL, we recommend micro chipping your pet to provide such identification.

Micro chips are implanted by our veterinarians underneath the skin between the shoulder blades. The process is just like getting vaccinations. This chip provides an identification number that is registered with a central database.  You provide your contact information when you register your pet’s number.  If your pet is lost, veterinarians, shelters, etc. have a scanner which can read this chip information and get your pet back to you quickly.  Unlike collars and tags, this chip can not accidentally fall off,  which then leaves your pet unidentified.
